The calendar may say it's September, but it's still blazing hot here in Florida! We are still approaching 90 degrees every day with our summer cool us off afternoon thundershowers slowly waning away. It's been a wet summer for us, but we needed the rain.
Tim's got a GREAT tag this month! It uses his new layering stencils. I just took a class last night at Whim So Doodle in St Pete with the always fabulous Dina Wakely and got 6 of the I think 10 stencils that are available. So this morning I got inky again after being very inky last night!
I started with Distress Stains in Wild Honey, Peacock Feathers and Peeled Paint and then followed along with Tim's instructions for layering the different stencils. The ones I didn't have that he used, I jsut used others out of my ever growing stach of stencils. And taking a cue from Tim's lead, I punched a hole in all of my stencils this morning and put them on a book ring and will get some cup hooks they next time I am out and hang them where I can access them easily. Then they are out of the way and I'm not bending them up!
I've got a couple of "Manly" birthdays coming up, so I used the new Brett Weldele/Tim collaboration stamp set, The Chemist, for my main image.
Donna Gibson and I did a "Girls Weekend Road Trip" to Lake Worth on the east coast to Everything Scrapbooks & Stamps to take a couple of classes with the wicked wonderful and wicked smaht Cheryl Mezzetti. Cheryl's from Bahstan (Boston!) and has a real thick accent! I love to harrass her about my Rays and her BoSox (blech!) but I truly love her to death!
This was our project for the second day. Cheryl walked us thru all things LuminArte then turned us loose. Of course I didn't get mine finished, but I've worked on it the last two days and it's finally complete. Well, except for pictures. And since I'm giving it as a gift, this is as finished as it's gonna be for me! So here goes:

Favorite Youngest Nephew Jacob has a birthday coming up, so I used the opportunity to use Tim's technique as the springboard for his birthday tag/card. I started with a Jumbo tag and used Distress Stains in Peeled Paint and Dried Marigold. The used both CTMH and Tim stamps in the masking technique that he describes in his blog post.
Yes, I'm working on Christmas! Found this the other day at Hobby Lobby and used my 40% off coupon and one Christmas gift is done!
I used papers that were in my stash. I know. Hard to believe! It came together very quickly. Hardest part was cutting out all of the box fronts!
Next up is to get my Christmas cards done. I just need to fina a layout I like.

I got to see him demo the brayer technique on Sunday at StampFest Orlando! First time I've gotten to see him demo in person since he doesn't do any demos when he's reaching. Course I could have stood there all day and watched "The Master" at work, but we needed to get home. Vacation was a blast and once I get my gozillion pictures sorted, I'll be doing a post on that!
I used one of Dyan's silhouette stamp retro dress images because I needed a more feminine image to go with the quote I wanted to use, but did the technique as Tim describes in his blog post. I kept my background soft by using Broken China, Victorian Velvet and Dried Marigold Distress Stains. I went around my quote and the dress with my Stablio Black pencil then softened the hard lines a bit with some water.
I guess everybody in the Universe knows that as of July 1, Google Reader will cease to exist. Boooooo Hisssss Google!

This may be my last set of swap cards for Convention. I *might* have one more idea in me, but we'll have to wait for this weekend when I'm off to see if I get to it! For this set, I used Dream Pop which was CTMH's special for April, I believe. It's not available any more, I do know that! I cut "quilt squares" out of the different cardstocks and once they were applied to Kraft cardstock that I inked the edges of using the Direct To Paper technique, I got out my handy dandy circa 1970's Singer Touch and Sew machine that I inherited from my Nana Sara and sewed around the outer squares.
