Sister Jan asked me at Christmas if I'd help her get caught up with 10+ years of scrapping the kids pictures. What else have I got to do?! She's got 4 ginormous boxes of pics (thankfully) in order, so I brought one box home with me and with this layout, I have the first packet of pics done! There are probably 50 packets in this box! It may take me 10 years to get them done! I will share a few here and there as I finish them up.
I've subscribed to Unscripted Sketches blog for a while now and I've even made a card or twelve but never entered them on their blog. I had this one picture of Jan and Jacob and was unsure as to how to proceed with it. Until I saw this week's sketch! And as is generally the case with me, I had in my head exactly how the layout would look. So for the first time, I am going to enter this layout on the Unscripted Sketches #238 sketch. And now that I've entered once, I'm sure it won't be my last!

School Days
Unka John got pics of the kids in his birthday card last month. I never got last years pics scrapped til this year, so decided I was gonna get this years scrapped before the end of the year!
I basically took the same layout and flipped it side to side. Joy's uses CTMH Roxy and Jacob's uses CTMH Elemental. The canvas is the Compliments Shapes that are supposed to go with Typeset, but I thought they worked well with both of the pp's I used.

Two bits...four bits...
Do they even still do that cheer? Do they even know what a bit is?!
One more layout from the pics Jan brought. Jake skipped football this season to play baseball, but Joy was right there on the sidelines cheering on the Junior Falcons.
I took the idea from a layout I'd seen in Scrapbooks, Etc magazine. Used CTMH Roxie pp along with Canvas badges, white and natural buttons, and Sorbet Waxy Flax. Title uses CTMH Cork Alphabet.

Tricks and Treats
Jan brought pics of Jake and Joy at Halloween when they were here for Thanksgiving. I used CTMH Mischief pp along with the felt and rub-ons for this paper.

Gear Up...
For Baseball!
Decided to do a layout of the Rays game we went to last month. I used a very old CTMH Winter promo pack called Serendipity. I might have a pack or twelve left! I think that may have been one of my all time fave pp's ever.
I used my t!m Holtz gears die (and my new Vagabond!!) and cut some cork for the gears. The arrow is from my stash and emboss glittered it using embossing glitter from Sparkle N Sprinkle. I used some of the new CTMH Newsprint Rub-Ons for the "gear up" and the "4" is the Solo number 4 that I stamped on a piece of white chipboard and cut out. The "baseball" uses the CTMH Polka Dot alphabet.

hugs
Took me a little trip "down south" last week to see Jan and John. Jan gave me this pic of the kids while I was there. Couldn't wait to get it scrapped! This is loosely based on "Secret" from Magic and also in the Spring/Summer Idea Book. I used a K*I Memories kit that I was given when I spent eleventybillion dollars at Whim So Doodle when t!m was here. Also used one of the CTMH Kraft Borders that I stitched Juniper Waxy Flax thru. There's an ooolllddd Scenic Route border as well that I inked the edges with CTMH Cocoa ink. "Hug" is the CTMH Irresistables Ecelectic Alpha and I also used CTMH Pennant alpha. "Zone" is part of the K*I Memories kit. Buttons are a combo of CTMH and from my stash.

Ahhhh!
And with this layout, Christmas 2010 is complete! This is the other layout design from the "You and Me" kit. And while it's nice, I am not liking it as much as the other one. This uses more of the older than dirt Scenic Route papers and I've still got some left! I don't know why the picture of Kathy and Bruce is so dark. It's not in real life! Printer gremlins must have been having fun!

More layouts
I couldn't quit with two layouts for the CTMH gal! I had just gotten my new kit for NSM called You And Me and I loved both of the layouts in this kit! So trendy with what is being shown in all of the scrapping magazines right now with lots of open space and just a few photo's.
For that layout, I used the retired Grace paper pack, along with Pennant Alphabet, Chocolate Alphabet, You and Me stamp set, Mocha Opaques, Bitty Sparkles, Cocoa ribbon rounds. I used coasters to back some of the elements to give it more dimension. Chipboard used is all from my stash. I really love this layout and plan to use it for some of my own stuff soon!
And the last layout I used also retired Caboodle paper pack. Stamp sets were Flower Child and Tiny Typewriter Alphabet. Embellies include Big Pinks flowers, Winter Cozy Mini Medleys and Sweet Leaf ribbon rounds.

Chickens at the fair
I'll admit it. My fave thing to do at the fair is oooh and ahhh over the chickens. Most people have no idea how many different breeds of chicken there are. There were little ones, big ones and ones in between. Combs were smooth, waffled, multi-tiered. Feathers were smooth and frizzled. Some had feathers on their feet and others didn't. It's amazing. Love me some chickens!

goats!
We had so much fun watching the little girl take every Blue Ribbon for every goat she took in the ring! And most of them were almost as big as she was! The little Nubian kids were so cute! They just stood there smiling while I took their picture.
And I'm gonna let you in on a secret. The "nubian goat" title was supposed to go on the OTHER page. The one with the Nubian goat kids on it. Hmmm...what a concept! But I was not in my right mind (no comments from the peanut gallery) and as I put the last letter on, I realized what I'd done. And of course the first ones I'd put on (with my Glossy Accents) were stuck. like. well...Glossy Accents. There was no way in hell they were coming off. And I was NOT about to re-do the page. So I left it. In all it's glory. With two titles on one page and none on the other. In the grand scheme of things, who cares!

Fair layouts
Here is the first of a few fair layouts I've been working on. I was inspired by Scrapbooking & Beyond, a magazine I picked up bundled with Paper Creations at Sams when we made a run there last week. For most of the layouts I'll be sharing, Scrapbooks & Beyond was my inspiration. I used CTMH Emporium paper pack, which is now discontinued. It's geared more towards zoo layouts, but I figured since most of my pictures were of the animals at the fair, why not use the animal paper?!

Life Delights
This is the last project that was found on my (S)crap heap! Well, there was one more, but somehow the directions for putting it together got lost, thrown away, who knows?! I sat and finagled with it for quite a while but could not figure what I was supposed to do, so I threw it away. No sense keeping it if I don't know how it goes together!
This was a l-o-n-g ago promo for CTMH. Called Life Delights Memory Showcase Album. Life Delights paper is long gone. The Memory Showcase Albums are still available and they make great gifts! They come in 6 x 6 and 9 x 9. The saddest part of this being an unfinished project was that I had put all of the pages together. All I had to do was stick them in the album! So this one was completed in less than 5 minutes.

Bitty album
This is another of the projects that I found on my (S)crap table when I was cleaning it. This was given to me by the gal running the Kodomo booth at CHA 2009. Sadly, right after that, Kodomo USA went out of business. They still have a booming and thriving biz in Japan, but they are no longer in the States. I loved this idea. They took old kids books and cut them up and repurposed them to make small photo albums with. Since this one only has 6 pages, it's going to Joy the next time I see her. She can put pics of she and her bff's in it and have it as a keepsake. There is a pattern on the paper on the first two pages but no matter how I photographed it, the pattern would not show up. So you'll just have to take my word for it! All of the embellies, letters, etc were included in the kit and I have NO idea what mfg they are.

Magnifique layouts
You know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men. So much for me working on Christmas and fair layouts. I don't know what it is about taking pics with our phones, but they do not want to print and look decent. The pics were all blue-ish and blurry. I have to wait for John to see if he can figure out whats up with the printer (and yes, I changed all of the ink cartridges), so in the meantime, I decided I needed to CLEAN my scrap table. I had just been piling stuff and my 6 x 4 table had shrunk to about a 3 x 3 work space. Un.acceptable! Even for me! I ended up throwing a lawn trash bag full of stuff away. (NO not just from the table! It wasn't that bad!) Stuff I kept thinking I might find a use for it. Figured if I hadn't used it by now, chances are I never would. I found some projects I've had for going on 2 summers now. Things I got at CHA Orlando two years ago. Layouts I got at Convention this past summer and never put together. Other stuff. So I made a pile of it and while I'm waiting for John's days off for him to look at the printer I'm working on getting them done.
I started with the Magnifique layout we got at Convention. I had to add some stuff to it because it was pretty plain and boring for my taste! The first layout uses 2 of the Flip Flaps. The second is two 12 x 12 layouts. ( and I'm not real sure I'm thrilled with the yellow flowers on the first set of layouts. I may end up switching them out for something else.)
And if anyone has seen my missing googlie eyes, would you please send them back home! That is part of the reason I cleaned my table and they weren't there. So I have NO idea of where they've run off to.
