Time once again for the Compendium of Curiosities III challenge, hosted as always by Linda Ledbetter. Go see what she and the Crew have created for this challenge here! We are working from the book by Tim Holtz and you can order your very own autographed copy from the link. This week, our sponsor is The Funkie Junkie and one lucky player will receive a $25 gift certificate!
This week we are working on Page 39-Distress Watercoloring. I recently purchased the latest collaboration stamp set of Tim and Mario III called Nautical Blueprints. And since the first day of Summer was this past Saturday, I was drawn to the set! I self-colored some of Wendy Vecchi's White Embossing Paste with Golden Nugget powder and after applying three different colors of blue distress inks to my tag, I used Tim's Rays stencil to apply the embossing paste. I used the shell and seahorse stamps and followed Tim's instructions to color them. Added just a bit of Distress Rock Candy glitter on both for some shine. I shamelessly copied my friend Anita Houston's idea to use white paint on one of Tim's fabrics and made a little ruffle for the bottom. I used some raffia from my stash for the top.

ICAD catch-up
I just realized I'd been a bad blogger and not been keeping up with my ICAD (Index Card A Day) posts. So this is going to be a picture heavy post! Some are not in order because I was working out of order til I got caught up.
ICAD 16 Roll The Dice, or in my case, Paradise!
ICAD 5 Galaxy, or in my case, a 1960's Galaxy! My dad had one many moons ago.
ICAD 7 Yellow
ICAD 6 Nail Polish
ICAD 8 Mandela
ICAD 9 Alphabet. I didn't have a "p" so I spelled it phonetically. I spelled soup with a Z for 10 points!
ICAD 10 The Beatles
ICAD 11 toy camera
ICAD 12 Paisley
ICAD 13 Book Review- One of my favorite all-time reads!
ICAD 17 Polka dots
ICAD 20 Orange
ICAD 19 Harry Potter. The only thing I know about HP is there is an owl!
ICAD weekly challenge. One staple collage
ICAD weekly challenge-Maps
ICAD 20 Candy Wrapper. I had no candy wrapper, so I stamper a bunch of chocolate quotes.
ICAD 21 Repeating pattern. I go crossed eyed when I do repeating patterns. I also go off the grid!
ICAD 22 Beach Umbrella.
I am going to "try" to do a weekly update from here on out. No promises!!

ICAS 14 and 15
So about half way through the day yesterday, I realized I was a day behind! I was still thinking it was Friday the 13th. So I decided I'd do the Saturday 14th prompt, which was Magenta. I used a Roc Nicholas stamp and my Luminarte Silks to paint the kitty (magenta.) Then a couple of Dyan Reaveley stamps completed this quick index card.
The prompt for the 15th is Stickers. I don't have that many stickers! Shocking I know for a scrapbooker to not have many stickers, but they've never really appealed to me. I've got lots of alphabets though, and since they have adhesive on their backs, I guess technically they ARE stickers. I've also still got a boatload of the butterfly dies I cut out for a prior project , so together here is my 5 minute index card for Sunday.

ICAD=Index Card A Day
I followed a link yesterday and found this blog post about creating art on a 3 x 5 index card every day for 61 days. It started June 1, but you can join any time with no pressure to go back and "get caught up." It runs through July 31. And there is also no pressure to do one every day. If life gets in the way, as ours has been here lately, you don't have to worry. There are prompts for you to use, or not. It's all up to you. It's meant to take you out of your comfort zone and not think about what the final outcome will be. Since it's on 3 x 5 cards, it's also meant to be loose and free.
So this is my first index card. I did use one of the prompts for today, which was numbers. I layered a bunch of stencils with various inks and made a little tag with a scrap of Tim Holtz fabric and some Phoomph in between the tag and fabric to give it a quilted feel. Then I hand stitched some "X's" to mimic quilting. I found a quote online that describes me and numbers to a "T!" "I disliked numbers, and they didn't think much of me either." R. J. Anderson
And there you have it. My first Index Card A Day!

CofCIII Week 4
Time once again for the Compendium of Curiosities III challenge, based on the book by Tim Holtz. As always, our hostess is the wonderful Linda Ledbetter and if you've not checked out her blog posts with all of the inspiring work done by the Curiosity Crew, you are missing some great inspiration! This week we are sponsored by The Funkie Junkie and one lucky player is gonna get a $25 shopping spree!
This week's challenge is located on page 49 if you are playing along at home. And if you're not, why aren't you?! I have had this project in mind since January and have been waiting *patiently* for Tim's Nautical Blueprint stamps to come in. And when they did, they sold out of the initial order before I could get to the store and I then had to wait for the reorder to arrive. But I've finally got them! I started with an 8 x 10 canvas and used Tim's technique as described in the book with some of Wendy Vecchi's Transparent Embossing Paste. LOVE that stuff! Smooth like buttah or a baby's butt!! Then I went in with three different colors of Luminarte Silks to mimic water. I added some burlap to the bottom then used the 4 different stamps in the Nautical Blueprints set and fussy-cut them. The seahorse and shell, notsomuch fun to fussy-cut!! I had picked up some real shells and a starfish back in January when I had lunch with my sister Jan and niece Joy and had been keeping them for this very project. The sentiment was on a sign at the restaurant where we had lunch and that was the inspiration behind this piece. Now it is on it's way to a good friend and I hope she likes it as much as I enjoyed making it.

12 Tags of 2014-June
It's time once again for Tim's 12 Tags of 2014. I used the lattice stencil to do the Monochromatic mini distress ink technique. There is Peacock Feathers Distress Glitter on the wings and I made a "rosette" for the hat topper using some of Tim's fabric line that was released last year. Waiting patiently for this years fabric to hit the stores!
