Using up scraps from the BabyCakes paper pack to make cards for friend Debbie's walk/run in April. I made three different projects with the paper pack and 18 cards to go in Debbie's box that will be raffled off.

Troop cards
Still working on cards to send the troops in between other projects. On the first one, I decided I wanted to incorporate some Dyan images with the Dotty For You paper pack. I random stamped the flowers and leaves and used my Dylusions Ink Sprays and hand painted the images. For the other two, I was thinking they could use these to send to their kids for a job well done in school or at home.

More Troops cards
I am especially loving the layout for the first two cards! Each square is 1.5' X 1.5", so this is a great card for using up all those bits and pieces of cs and paper that you've got laying around. I ended up doing eight of these, just using pieces. For the third card, I used my sponge and Smoothie Pigment Ink and colored the white crochet flower. Since these do not need to be exclusively CTMH, the "button" brads are some that Debie and Evan sent me. I thought they looked really cute on these cards.

Cards for our Troops
We recently found out that one of our CTMH Team sisters is being deployed to Afghanistan. She has asked the team to make and send cards for her to share with the other Troops at her base and also for them to give to the Afghan children they come in contact with. Our wonderful Upline, Susan is going to be collecting cards from team members and sending "care" packages to our sister Consultant during her deployment.
I just got some new CTMH toyz to play with yesterday. Things that weren't available early for Consultants to sample, so I decided what better way to play with new things than to make some cards for our Troops! I'll be sharing cards as I make them over the next little while.
These card layouts are in our new Make It From Your Heart how-to publication. With the retirement of our prior how-to books these new publications combine the best of both worlds. They will have layouts for scrapbookers AND cardmakers! I also ordered some of our new Pigment inks and they are what I used for all of the stamping and edge distressing. The colors are so lush! Something you can't get with water based dye inks. There's also a bit of our new Metallic Silver and Gold markers on the stars. And speaking of stars. You'll notice that 4 of the cards are the same except for the size of the stars. ALWAYS be sure to check the size of your settings on your Cricut before you cut! I forgot to do that and my stars were smaller than I wanted. Rather than toss the stars, I decided I'd just do another set of stars in the size I'd intended for them to be all along! Paper pack is Dotty For You, an campaign from earlier this summer and is no longer available.

Seeing Dots
FedEx brought me some new CTMH toyz to play with this morning! We've got a great special this month, 24 sheets with 2 of each pattern of Summery cardstock called Dotty. And with a qualifying order, it can be yours for $5.00! There are butterflies and dots and chevrons and lines and flowers and all sorts of really cool patterns. I also got a few new stamp sets and had to play! I used one of the pretty flower prints and paired it with the Quick Cards-Butterfly stamp. The sentiment is hard to read. It says, "Love as delicate as a butterflys wings as strong as the circle of life." I used all six of the suggested colors for this paper pack, Creme Brulee, Grey Wool, Lagoon, Smoothie, Sunset and Sweet Leaf and colored the stamp with each one, then spritzed it with water and stamped on my watercolor paper. Then I edged with a sponge in Sweet Leaf and Creme Brulee. The green dotty paper on the bottom is the opposite side of the flower paper! Each backside has a different color of dotty dots! Pretty cool! I also used a couple of new Durables Round Studs on the card.

Thank you's
Needed a couple of quick Thank You cards this morning. I had gotten some email images from Red Lead and decided to incorporate them into my cards. I started with CTMH Elemental paper pack and edge distressed everything with CTMH Desert Sand ink. Each of the images I used Diamons Stickles on. The bird is completely covered and the flower centers are also done. And in keeping with the bling, I added "diamonds" to the sentiment which is from CTMH Thank You set. And the circle dimensional element are from the Elemental Compliments add-on for that paper pack. And I've still got a few of the free images left, so I will be using them to make cards for Debbie's walk/run for 2013.

new papers
John and I made a trip to Posh Scraps the other day. They had gotten some really cool new papers in from Creative Imaginations. They almost remind me of t!m's Kraft Resist papers. There is a varnish embedded in the paper that will resist whatever medium you put over it. Creative Imaginations also has some really cool embellie type of the same resist thing, with the varnish being in black, so I picked up a package of them as well. I had to use the flower-y paper first. I used my Luminarte Twinkling H2O's and painted each individual flower and leaf. Then I picked a bird and butterfly to add to this quick card. It's hard to tell, but the parts that look like they don't have color on them have Pearl Blue H2O's on them. It really shimmers in real life!

One card two ways
I saw this technique done on SplitCoastStampers and really like the effect. Basically, you stamp with VersaMark on black cardstock them emboss with white embossing powder. Then you go in with colored pencils and color along the lines but not the whole image then schmear it with you finger to make the color lines less visable. (I know there's a word for that, but it escapes me right now. I know as soon as I hit "post" I'll remember it!)
The first card, I thought I grabbed my white embossing powder but as soon as it started to emboss, I realized I'd grabbed the clear. No matter! I liked it. So I went back and got the white and did it the way it was supposed to be done. All images are from CTMH Card Word Puzzle. I used Sunflower ink to color the seam binding and stamp the "Thinking of You" sentiment (CTMH For Every Occasion) and Gypsy ink for the "Congratulations" sentiment along with Black Bakers Twine and a black button from my stash. Two more additions to go in Debbie's box!

Pemberley Thank You
Needed a quick TY card the other day and went to my new favorite pp from the CTMH Spring/Summer Idea Book, Pemberely. I had seen a sketch last week during CHA on a mfg's website and I didn't save it, so don't remember which mfg it was! I saw so many cool things, it's amazing that I remembered the sketch!
I used Pinky to cut the bottom scallop border and the two tags. The "thank", small flower and large flower are all from the new stamp set, Card Word Puzzle. There are over FIFTY different sentiments that you can use alone or to make your own phrases. In addition, there are 4 different flowers, a leaf and a butterfly on this one stamp set. The "U" is from the Cork Alphas that were released with the Fall/Winter IB. I used Diamond Stickles on the small flower and "U" and Yellow Stickles on the large flower center. There are some bitty pearls along the edge of the border and some of our new Grey Flannel Bakers Twine attached to the tags.

Rockin day 29
So I ended up with Verandah which is yet another discontinued CTMH pp. I've always loved the color pallette of Verandah. I also used up some Pewter Mini Medleys and Cocoa Ribbon Rounds. I stuck to the flowers in the Rock The Block stamp set and used sentiments from CTMH For Every Occasion.

Rockin day 27
And that's it for Caboodle. I never would have thought I'd get so many cards out of 1.5 sheets of B&T and a few scrippy scraps of cardstock! Amazing what female ingenuity does for ya, huh?! And now lets see what else I've got that needs to be used up for the last few.
