The 26th of the month means it's my day to be featured on Roc's blog!
This month I've made a tag featuring Heart Vine and Polka Dot Dog. You can find these and all of Roc's stamps at Stampotique! And just between you and me, she's got some GREAT new stamp designs that just came out March 1!
I ran some Texture Paste thru a stencil for some background interest. I then colored my tag with Tim Holtz's Distress Crayons. I LOVE how new colors form when you blend the one that are side by side together with your fingers! Then I used green embossing powder and embossed Heart Vine along one side. I used Tim's Lattice die and put it on the Heart Vine to climb on! I applied some Ranger Mercury Glass Stickles to the hearts on the vine for shimmer. Polka Dot Dog was colored using Dyan Reaveley Dylusions Inks. And he's not complete without a googly eye!!

SDC237-It's all about the birds!
Nellie is our hostess this week for SDC237 and she is going to the birds! No, she just wants to see birds! Here's what she had to say about her challenge:
"So close to Easter, I would love to see you use birds and stuff related to birds, such as, feathers, eggs, nests etc... in your artwork"
I had some fun with Twinkie and his feathered friends from Birdie Up. They are, apparently off on a grand adventure! There are also some bird silhouettes on my background, which was a piece left over from another project.

Ranger Eggs
Ranger has a fun challenge on their blog! Decorate eggs in any of their four signature designers, Tim Holtz, Dina Wakley, Dyan Reaveley and Wendy Vecchi's, style and download pics and be eligible for prizes! I picked up some plastic eggs at the Dollar Store and have had a couple of creative days.
My first one is Tim Holtz inspired. After all, I JUST took a class with him at the fabulous Whim So Doodle! I started with a piece of his linen textile and applied Texture Paste thru the Speckles stencil all over the fabric trying to mimic the candy Robin's eggs. Once dry, I applied various colors of Distress Crayons and smudged with my finger. I need to be less aggressive with smudging with my finger on a bumpy surface like Texture Paste though, since I caused a blister to rise on said finger!! Once this was complete, I covered the egg with the fabric. The I used some of the Lace Trimmings and colored some Crinkle ribbon with Distress Stains. Once that was dry, I fashioned it into a bow and attached it to the top of my egg. Then I went through my Idea-Ology stash and added a few hanging trinkets to finish off the egg.
Second up is an egg in the style of Dina Wakely. I used her heavy body acrylic paints to paint the egg. Then I applied more paint thru her leaves stencil and also added some paint cap circles. I painted one of her Scribbly Birds with her heavy body acrylic and added it to the egg.

SDC-236 St. Patrick's Day
What better way to spend St. Patrick's Day than making a tag for SDC236?!
Jackie is our hostess this week and here's what she had to say about her challenge:
"St Patrick's Day was lucky for me, I married my husband on this date, so I would like to see the luck of the Irish in your projects. Such as lucky clovers"
Well Happy Anniversary to you and your hubby, Jackie!
I got a stamp order yesterday from Stampotique. It was the stamps I chose from my winning the $30 monthly drawing back in January, so I decided to put two of those new stamps to use today. I chose Roc Nicholas' Fling Pig and Stacked Boxes. I started with a black tag and added a piece of green striped scrapbooking paper. Then I added Wendy Vecchi's lush Metallic Gold Embossing Paste through Tim Holtz's Gothic stencil. I stamped the words on the stacked boxes. Flying Pig is colored using Dyan Reaveley's Dylusions Inks.
And OF COURSE I had to dye my fingers just a bit green for the occasion as well!

SDC235-Use Flowers
Carol is our hostess this week at SDC and she wants us to use flowers. Here's what she had to say:
Spring is just around the corner in the UK. So share with me a project with flowers in it"
So let's see your flowers this week!!!
I started my tag using some Gel Medium and after it dried, I applied some of Tim Holtz's Distress Crayons and rubbed them in with my fingers. I especially love the new colors that make when you rub adjoining colors together! Then I used Tim's Wildflower stencil and wiped color away with a baby wipe. I dried the tag, then used Ground Espresso Distress Ink and filled in the flowers for some contrast. I also used another stencil for the three sunflowers. I decided Shmurfy would be my stamp of choice today, along with a bouquet of flowers he is taking to his true love. And as he is certainly different, I hope he never changes!

12 tags of 2016-March
Tim's revisiting two very cool techniques this month! Dimensional Die Cuts and Textured Surfaces.
I used the Crazy Birds and his travel words dies for my tag. I used his new Distress Crayons to color with. I am LOVING all of the ways you can color with these crayons. Sure do hope Ranger comes out with the full line for CHA next year!

SDC234-Time Challenge- 30 minutes or less
Wednesday means time for Stampotique! Sue is our hostess this week. Here's what she had to say about her challenge:
"We can sometimes get caught up in making big production pieces. My challenge to you this week is to make something in 30 minutes or less (not including time taken to gather your supplies) I look forward to seeing what you create.
I just got Ken Oliver's new Caribbean Color Bursts, so I decided I'd give them a try! I used Tangerine, Turquoise ad Fuschia thru Tim Holtz's Splatter stencil. Then I stamped Roc's Heart Vine stamp along one side and darkened it using my Fude Ball black pen. I used some Stickles Mercury Glass on the hearts for some glitter! I stamped Magda's Agatha Flower and used Tim's new Distress Crayons to color her. I finished the tag using one of Tim's Small Talk stickers and edging the whole tag in black.
Tag completed in 25 minutes!
