This week we are delving into t!m's pocket watch, which is found on page 35 if you're playing along. I had all sorts of ideas and all kinds of things laid out on my table prepped and ready to go into my watch. Lets face it, I had enough stuff to do FIVE watches!! It's a pocket watch, not a jumbo tag!!! So it ended being 1 Love. I used some of t!m's new tiny numbers and his new muse words.I used some tissue paper and crumpled it as I covered the number 1 and let it dry, then tore the paper so I'd have some jagged edges and used my Vintage Photo Distress ink on the edges. I used my Snow Cap Paint Dabber to highlight the "love" and used my Barn Red Distress Marker to go around both since the heart I had painted and enameled was too big to go in the watch, I thought it needed juuuust a bit of red coloring in there somewhere! Pretty simple, but I like it! This will be my Father's Day gift to John.
Playing in my art journal again. Thought I'd try hand writing my sentiment instead of using stamps. I think I need more practice! My lettering looks small to me compared to the rest of the page. So maybe my next few pages need to be sentiments and sayings only. We'll see! It says, in case you can't read it, Bloom where you are planted. I hand painted everything with brushes using Dyan Reaveley's Dylusions Spray Inks. All stamped images are also Dyan's. The three large flowers are from a stencil.
We had to get John new work shooze today. So Savannah and Orleans have a new box to fight over. Savannah won round one! She loves her some new box! Once her brother puts his fat arse in it, all 4 sides will split out and she won't want anything more to do with it! Well, that and it will smell like boy!!
It's time for the 12 tags of 2012, the June edition, over on t!m's blog. This month it's all about colorizing a black and white photo with Distress Inks and nibs. I had some vintage-y looking images that I got from Red Lead so I decided to use them. The ladies in their high necked, long dresses remind me of some early pictures of my ancestors when they first came to Florida to settle this mosquito infested land! I can't imagine having to wear all of those clothes with no air conditioning!
I used the delicious pallete of Spring Limited Edition Distress Inks to color the blouses and Rusty Hinge to color the drapes. t!m used Antique Linen to color the bulk of his photo with, but since I don't have Antique Linen, I used Milled Lavender instead and I kinda like the look. The "diamond" bauble is one from my stash that was in with the buttons that I got from my mom's friend Ruth.
It's Repurposed Packaging week at StudioL3. This week, t!m shows us how to reuse packaging to make art! You can find this technique on page 62 of Compendium of Curiosities II.
I used two different types of packaging for my tag. Both plastic and cardboard. I ripped some of the paper off of the cardboard to show the layers. The plastic is colored with alcohol inks, Distress Markers and Paint Daubbers. To color my tag, I used the smoosh my tag thru puddles of Distress Stain, then water Spritzed and Flicked.

I started with Dylusions Spray inks and added some random stamping using both Dyan's and Christy Tomlinson's stamps. I used the "eyelashes lady" as I've taken to calling her from Dyan's Bits and Pieces stamp set. The quote is from Christy Tomlinson's SheArt line.
