Great sketch again this month at SheetLoad of Cards - Free Monthly eZine!

I needed another anniversary card, so this sketch worked out well for it. I used CTMH Paper Garden paper pack. Say It In Style sentiment, and the flower and leaves are from CTMH Spring Equinox stamp set. The flower is double stamped, with the second image cut out and pop-dotted. There is Prisma Glitter on the outside edge of the flower. I cut the center out of a metal rimmed tag and used CTMH Sweet Leaf embroidery thread to attach it to the card, then stamped the sentiment directly on the flower paper in CTMH Petal ink. A piece of CTMH Sweet Leaf Ribbon finishes off the card.

New Toyz!

I had to go to JoAnn's yesterday to get refills for my little Xyron "X." I use it for attaching ribbon to cards. John told me I could spend $60. And I assured him that there wasn't anything that I needed that was $60! I would run in, get the refills and run out. I'd spend ten bucks, if that. OH SILLY ME!!! Little did I know that they had basically all of their scrap stuff on sale! I'd been eyeing the Fiskars Elegant Fountain punch for a while now, but I won't pay full price for them. They were 40% off and it jumped in my hand as I walked by! Who am I to say no! Then, since Michael's IS right across the street, I figured I'd go see what they had. And they are carrying a new line of punches, made by EK Success. These lock down when not in use, to make storage easier!!! Two caught my eye right away. One that looks like the tabs you get when you pull a piece of notebook paper out of a spiral bound notebook. And the other was just two rows of dots. I'm not digging the two rows of dots one now that I've actually punched with it, so I'm gonna return it for something else. They were on sale too, so I had to tell John last night that because I only bought stuff that was on sale, I "saved" him almost $20!! Plus, I "only" spent $44 of the $60 he said I could...so when I go to take the one punch back, I'm gonna see what else I can buy for the other $16! Hee hee!!

Yes, "dantce"! Like what Snoopy does in the Charlie Brown Christmas special. With his head back and his arms (OK, front legs!) up and he's just dantcing like nobody's watching!

I just found out that the ever-fabulous and cutting edge t!m Holtz will be at Ruban Rouge for two classes on Saturday July 25. He was supposed to come back last year and teach, but due to scheduling conflicts, was never able to make it. I will be on the phone at 10:01 this morning, calling Ruban Rouge to reserve my spot.

Card Patterns challenge

And with this one I'm up-to-date! Another simple but beautiful sketch this week at CardPatterns. I love how they keep them simple so you can do as much or as little as you want to the sketch.

I saw on the blogosphere recently a card done in white on white on white with the only color being the stamped image. It just looked so clean and elegant to me, I knew I had to try it. And I read so many blogs, I don't remember where I saw it, so if it was on your blog, comment so I know who to give the credit to.

I started with my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder for the card front. The I used my Fiskars Threading Water punch for the edge detail. Back to the Cuttlebug for the Circles and Scalloped Circles. Then I stamped the bird in CTMH Creme Brulee and Juniper. The wings and tail are pop dotted for dimension. I found some white satin and organza ribbon in my stash to finish it off. Oh, and a black Bitty Brad for her eye and bling on her headfeathers!

Card Patterns challenge

This is the card for the second week of CardPatterns. I love the way this design is on the simple side, but that you can change it up and make it more! And really, isn't that what cardmaking or scrapbooking is all about? Talking an idea you see and making it your own. I needed a couple of "basic" cards, so this is what I came up with. Paper is CTMH Notebook collection. All edges are distressed. The chipboard is Deluxe Designs, which sadly, is now out of business. I used CTMH Creat A Shade Pearl Paint and Desert Sand Reinker to paint the seashell with, then used my Sakura Black JellyRoll pen for highlights. It's glimmery in person, but doesn't photograph well.

Finally getting around to doing the first two weeks of challenges for CardPatterns!

Since I was already playing with CTMH Key To My Heart, I figured why change a good thing?! I needed an anniversary card and this paper lends itself very well to "romantic" cards. The heart is from the Key To My Heart stamp set and the sentiment is from Say It In Style. Ribbon is from the CTMH Sorbet Ribbon Rounds collection. Brads are from CTMH Mini Medley Spring Blossom collection. Bling is unknown from my stash.

I learned a cool new technique this morning on Tim Holtz - Scrapbooking & Rubber Stamping Ideas For Everybody. Use Ranger Alcohol Inks on Glossy Cardstock and then use a can of air (like you use to clean your computer keyboard with) and "blow" the alcohol ink into really cool patterns.

I needed a birthday card for my fil and he loves all of the cards I make anyway (he and mil keep them in an album!) so this will really blow his socks off!

The flourish stamp is Technique Tuesday WhispyGigs. Butterfly is t!m Holtz Grungeboard with Distress Embossing Powder in Mustard Seed and the wings are pop dotted. Ribbon is unknown from my stash.
