Blast from My Past!

I was channel flipping the other day and happened on a show on Food Network about fair food. One of the things they talked about was Pronto Pups. Now I never remember them from the fairs, but I DO remember having them at home. The mix came in a cake box size box. You mixed 2 parts mix to 1 part water, dipped your hot dogs and fried them. And they (in MY opinion!) were sooooooooo much better than corn dogs. I remember eating pronto pups up into my late teens, early twenties when I was in my first apartment. Then the mix disappeared. And I was sad. I consoled myself with the occasional corn dog when we'd go to the fair, but it was never the same. I found out while watching the show that corn dogs are all cooked at the same time and left under a heat lamp til somebody buys them. Pronto pups are cooked when you order them. Which is why they tasted so much better to me! And lo and behold, there is a company in Oregon that sells pronto pup mix! And I ordered some! Smallest amount you can order is a 5 lb bag! I didn't care! Mailman just delivered it. I ordered it on Tuesday. Today is Thursday! How's that for service! I've already got my dinner plans in place for tonight, but tomorrow night...Pronro Pups at Sue & John's! Here's a link if you'd like to order some for yourself! CPS challenge

Tami gave us another beautiful sketch at http://www.cardpositioningsystems.blogspot.com/ again this week. And the DT came up with some very nice examples.

I'm trying to use up bits and pieces of paper packs in anticipation of the new CTMH IB release to Consultants the first part of next month. I went thru all of my paper packs the other day and took a bunch to the Girl Scouts yesterday when I went to do my grocery shopping. The young ladies were very excited and had to be reminded by the mom who was with them that they were there to sell cookies and not to look at the papers! I've got a bunch more to go thru, from various companies so I'll be making another donation before too long.

On to my card!

This is the CTMH Unforgettable paper pack. I just love this paper pack! The large chipboard flower is Deluxe Designs. I covered it in the pink paper, then used one of the Intrinsic Backgrounds stamps to stamp a light pattern on it. Then came back in with my Sorbet ink and sponged the edges for a softer look. The spiral clip is CTMH, as is the piece of Sorbet Ribbon Round. The branches and small flowers are from the Aspirations stamp set. The small flowers are pop dotted and have bling for the flower centers.

It's Jill's Birthday!

Well, not til Thursday, but she already got and opened her gift from me, so it's okay to share. It normally takes a week to get a package to Cali on the slow turtle, so I mailed it on Thur. She got it yesterday. And of course she has no restraint and couldn't wait to open it!

I made her one of Sue's Famous Wall Hangings with her nickname "Wench" on it. I also made her a little memory keeper book.

A Two-fer!

I'm combining the Our Creative Corner and the CardPatterns challenge this week! The flourish on the card is the challenge for OCC and the design of the card is from CardPatterns. I simple flipped it side-to-side.

A friends son recently had surgery, so I thought I make him a card to cheer him up. Paper pack is CTMH Stardust. The monkey (with Googly eyes!) is from CTMH Life's A Jungle stamp set and is pop dotted. I hate that it doesn't show well in the picture! I did one of my favorite new techniques; cutting the vellum out of a metal-rimmed tag and putting a piece of matching cardstock in it's place. Sentiment is from CTMH Say It In Style. The flourish is from Deluxe Designs. Buttons are from my stash and the embroidery thread is CTMH Topiary. The punch is new from EK Success. Found it at Michael's the other day! They are pretty neat! They lock down when not in use for easier storage.

Dermo update/finally, some good news!

I thought I'd best update on my latest Dermo visit this past Tue. Yeah, I don't get in a hurry!

The stitches are GONE! All of them! They put butterflies on all three spots and she told me that if they came off before my return visit on the 19th, Nurse John could replace them. Other than that, there was nothing more we should do to them. No Vaseline. No bandages. No tape giving my skin a worse rash than the actual incisions! The butterflies came off the first night! So we've been replacing them daily, after my shower. And all three sites look so much better. The Dermo also seemed to think I could possibly be allergic to the nylon thread she used for the first two because they were both rather irritated. The last spot she cut off, she used something different to suture and it looked great. And the original two spots are doing so much better now that the stitches are out. I'm not constantly twisting and turning, trying to find a comfortable position where the stitches aren't pulling. Especially on the one in the small of my back. That one was brutal! So hopefully when I go back on the 19th, I can get the all-clear and we can once again, start attacking those dang skin tags!

Amy R's challenge

Poor Amy was lamenting the fact that they had another blizzard yesterday and how she's ready for Spring. Maybe I shouldn't rub it in that we will be in the 80's on the west coast of FL this weekend!

Anyway! She gave us her 1 year anniversary sketch this week on Prairie Paper & Ink. I saw a really cool idea on the Spellbinders Blog & Community Forum blog this morning. Use your Nestie dies to cut a window in the front of your card. So I incorporated Amy's sketch with that idea and made Amy a Spring card! The background is stamped with CTMH Intrinsic Backgrounds stamp. The tree is from CTMH Four Seasons and is stamped on the inside of the card. The sentiment is from CTMH April Word Puzzle. Papers are from CTMH Emporium Creative Basics paper pack, as is the Vineyard Berry grosgrain ribbon. Bling dotting the "I" is unknown from my stash. The scallop on the bottom is my new EK Success punch that I exchanged for the dots one I didn't like.
