It's Challenge 33 at Linda's. This week we are delving into page 36 in Compendium of Curiosities II by Tim Holtz and it's all about his fabulous and versitile Tissue Tape. I finally got Tim's Tattered Flowers die last week, so of course I HAD to use it for this week's challenge. After I cut our my flowers, using the technique as described in the book, I used four colors of Distress Ink to color them, then gently sqooshed the petals to give them some dimension. I needed an Anniversary card, so once I had my flower assembled I pulled out CTMH La Belle Vie paper pack and finished up my card with it.

I started my tag with Pumice Stone, Broken China and Brushed Pewter Distress Stains in puddles on my Kraft Sheet and drug the tag thru the colors and let it run, then dried it with my heat gun and then splotched it thru the colors again. I love the shimmery effect the Brushed Pewter gives the tag! I used one of Tim's Haberdashery stamps and used the Reflections Stamping technique on it.

I bought myself a couple of Tim's Classic Favorite's stamp sets when I was at Whim So Doodle earlier this week for the Dyan classes, so I HAD to get some ink on them!

This week we are delving into t!m's pocket watch, which is found on page 35 if you're playing along. I had all sorts of ideas and all kinds of things laid out on my table prepped and ready to go into my watch. Lets face it, I had enough stuff to do FIVE watches!! It's a pocket watch, not a jumbo tag!!! So it ended being 1 Love. I used some of t!m's new tiny numbers and his new muse words.I used some tissue paper and crumpled it as I covered the number 1 and let it dry, then tore the paper so I'd have some jagged edges and used my Vintage Photo Distress ink on the edges. I used my Snow Cap Paint Dabber to highlight the "love" and used my Barn Red Distress Marker to go around both since the heart I had painted and enameled was too big to go in the watch, I thought it needed juuuust a bit of red coloring in there somewhere! Pretty simple, but I like it! This will be my Father's Day gift to John.
Playing in my art journal again, using Dyan's Spray Inks and stamps. I'm also entering this in the Simon Says challenge for this week with the theme of "anything goes!" One lucky player will win a $50 shopping spree this week.
I used Right Up Your Street, Around the Edge, How Does Your Garden Grow and Bits and Bats stamp sets. Also did a lot of hand doodling with both black and white pens.
Week 5 of Compendium of Curiosities II challenges at Linda's is, as always, based on the latest book by t!m and this week sponsored by the wonderful Simon Says Stamp with a $25 gift certificate to one lucky player.
This week it's all about Shattered Stains. This technique can be found on page 48 of CofC II. I used the birdcage and bird die and cut my GrungePaper and also the Ornate On The Edge die which I used Broken China on. I used some of Claudine Hellmuth's Sticky Back Canvas to cut out the flourish and inked it using Shabby Shutters. The birdcage I used Pumice Stone and Shabby Shutters on to make it look old and worn. The bird is done with Spun Sugar and Victorian Velvet on the wing. I used Mustard Seed, Fired Brick and Broken China distress inks to color my tag then with a spin on t!m's spritz and flick method, I used Dyan's Diamond of a Border stencil and sprayed water thru the stencil and then wiped the excess water off and dried with my heat gun.
Working in my journal again. Started with Dyan's Spray Inks, then used the Letter Jumble stencil and sprayed Perfect Pearls Mist thru it to lighten some of the pigment. I used a Pondering Petunia image that Anita (Miss Ranger U. Graduate Herself!) sent me and used a paint brush dipped in Dyan's Spray Inks to color her along with some silver glitter glue for her ginormous glasses. Then I used a piece of one of my Zentangle pieces for her hat/hair. The sentiment says, "When ever'body is lookin' at'cha funny, ya gotta hold on."

Great challenge this week at Simon Says with "Anything Goes." I finally got myself a few Dylusions Spray Inks in Lemon Zest, Crushed Grape and Vibrant Turquoise, so I decided the first page in my new art journal would be done with them! I spritzed my page with water then sprayed the three inks around til I had the coverage I wanted. Hit it with the heat gun to dry. I used the face and legs from Dyan's Ruby Rainbow and the sentiment body is from t!m's Words for Thought. I double masked it to get "impossible" and "untried" stamped in Mustard Seed which I then outlined using my Faber Castell black pen. The wings (which are upside down! Shhhh...don't tell anybody!) are also from Ruby Rainbow. All of the bugs are from Dyan's Bits of This and I used t!m's Mixed Media with CTMH White Daisy Pigment ink and I then did freehand doodling with my Faber Castell pen.
An easy challenge for me at Simon Says this week! t!m techniques!! Got those down cold! I used three techniques, I think! For my tag, it's distress inked in Blue Jeans, Rusty Hinge, Fired Brick and Mustard Yellow. Then I spritzed and flicked the tag with water and dried it with my heat gun. Added some Vintage Photo to the edges. Then I used a piece of watercolor paper and used the tattered sparrow stamp and inked it in various distress inks and spritzed it with water and stamped on my watercolor paper. Then used Tumbled Glass on the center and Vintage Photo on the edges. I used the weedy flowers stamps from Dyan's Bits of This stamp set on the tag as well. Then I used a muse token that says Journey and I sanded the word a bit for it to stand out more. The seam binding is colored using Rusty Hinge and a bit of Vintage Photo.
Combining challenges again today. Sneaking in just under the wire with Linda's challenge for the week. Based, as always on the works of t!m!. This week sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. And also the OCC challenge which is Luck O' The Irish. I used to participate in the OCC challenge and kinda got away from it, but now my friend Anita is one of the design team members, so I'm thinking I'm gonna get back to doing that challenge again.
Linda's challenge was to use alcohol inks and make a plaid design. And the OCC challenge was to use a BINGO card and green on your design. So I used Lettuce, Oregano, Stream and Pitch Black alcohol inks to make my plaid design. Then embossed with t!m's BINGO embossing folder. I used Gold Paint Dabber and Claudine Hellmuth Studio Charcoal Black Acrylic paint to highlight the numbers and lines on the BINGO card. Pinky helped out by cutting 4 hearts from my corregated paper using the CTMH AP cartridge to make my "shamrock" and I used some of the CTMH papers from the Crusin paper pack to spell out 'lucky" to use instead of BINGO chips. Finally a 17 from my number plaquettes and I've got one more card to add to Debbie's box for the walk/run coming up next month!
When I was at Posh Scraps last weekend, Michelle had gotten the initial shipment of Christy Tomlinson's new line for Pink Paislee called SheArt and it was flying off the shelves! And since I was the one who told Michelle she had to order this line, I had to buy my fair share of the new product! I got the doily stencil and the 6 x 6 paper pack with two each of the different papers and the rub-ons and the paper dolls bits and pieces with a bunch of different images that you punch out and use as you see fit. And I couldn't wait to play with all of it! I used Golden Molding Paste to get some dimension using the SheArt doily stencil and the circles stencil I picked up last week at Michael's. Let it dry mostly on it's own, but since I'm not known for my patience, I ended up hitting it with the heat gun towards the end and it bubbled up some, but it added to the overall dimension I was going for, so I left it alone! Then I dabbed some spun sugar, wild honey and victorian velvet Distress Stains on my Kraft sheet and spritzed both sides of the journal pages with water and drug them thru the stains. Grabbed my Dyan Travelling Travis stamp set (I have two new sets on order, so you won't have to keep looking at the same three heads for much longer!) and stamped the three heads onto white cardstock and went a little crazy with Stickles and Liquid Pearls on them! Once they dried, I finished coloring in the faces with PrismaColor pencils and odorless mineral spirits and a stub. Used one of the rub-ons (the green wire-mesh looking spot on the lower left second page) and doodled on both pages . Using a few of the 6 x 6 pages, I cut out a house and doodled around the edges of it as well, then used a pencil lead to darken around the edges of the house and soften it a bit by rubbing my finger around the edges. Used my AP cartridge to cut out 6 banner pieces (with holes already in them!) and used some common household twine to string them up. Grabbed a few buttons from the ones I got from mom's friend Ruth and added them to the mix! I also found a package of 5 different patterned fabric ribbon at Posh and I loved the patterns, so there's a piece of it on the lower right of the first page. The sun, bird and butterfly are all from the SheArt paper dolls bits and pieces pack, as are the 3 sentiments I used.

Combining this weeks challenge at Simon Says with the latest page for my art journal. The challenge was to use t!m's Idea-Ology lines and I think I've accomplished that goal!
I started with a page from his Crowded Attic line and distressed the edges. Used his houses die and some colored corregated paper from long ago and cut out a few houses and distressed them as well. Cut the roofs using odd bits that were on my scrap table. Then dug thru my Fragments box and pulled out random
Idea-Ology bits and some that aren't but go with the overall feel of my piece.
